So my bike and camping gear sits in storage waiting for the snow to go away and temperatures to go back up again. I'm itching to go riding and here in michigan the DNR has a new reservation system for the State park campgrounds making it easier for people to actually get a campsite as it requires you to pay for your campsite fully when you reserve it, this stops people from hogging the state parks by reserving every single weekend, then cancelling when they decide they dont want to go that weekend.
Some of the state parks have "mini cabins" that make life really easy for Motorcycle campers. Not having to pack shelter opens up a lot of options for people with smaller bikes. A lot of private campgrounds also have mini cabins nowdays that are quite affordable. No running water or power, but they are warm and dry and typically Twice the price of the standard dirt campsite.
This spring I will be taking a camping trip to Ludington, MI state park on the motorcycle with my wife and writing a story about the advantages and disadvantages of the mini cabin camping that is possible in many areas.
